I just finished a new build with a ASUS P8H61-MX motherboard and Core i5-3450.

No graphics card, a single Corsair XMS3 4GB.

When I boot up the machine I hear 4 beeps, nothing appears on the screen.

Here are the supported CPUs: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/list.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&s=39&m=P8H61-MX&os=&hashedid=n/a

Looks like I might need to update my BIOS to 0701 before it can find the i5 CPU. I haven't got any other i series CPUs lying around. Does anyone know if I can update the BIOS without a CPU or with this CPU in?

Ordered a compatible Pentium chip from some auction site for 28 quid instead - hopefully that'll do the job.

These Ivybridge chips hey? Nightmare. On a positive note, this could this be an opportunity for someone to open a 'hire-a-CPU' store?

Just to put this thread to bed, I flashed the BIOS with a Pentium G620 from 0405 to the latest version, 7302. I can now enjoy my Ivybridge. And on the topic of my 'hire-a-CPU' idea, I now have a spare CPU up for rent! :D
