P8p67 Deluxe Multiple drive problems

Okay I need some help here! :(

I just got my P8P67 Deluxe and I've had absolutely no luck in getting all my drives working together with the motherboard. I have 6 Drives in total that I want to plug into my system.

First issue I've had is getting the board to go beyond POST when I have any drives plugged into the Marvell SATA ports. If anything is plugged in the computer gets to the screen where you can press ctrl+m to configure a raid setup before rebooting.

Second issue I've had is being able to boot into Windows 7. At the moment I am only able to have my Corsair F90 SSD and Pioneer DVDRW plugged in. If I try and plug in my Samsung F3 1TB and my Hitachi 1TB drive into any of the remaining Intel ports the system just hangs at the Windows 7 splash screen indefinitely.

The odd thing is, once the system has actually booted up, with hot swapping enabled I'm able to plug these drives into any free SATA port (Intel and Marvell) and they work fine. The system appears to be stable, heck I can even overclock and it runs fine.

So far I've tried reinstalling windows and flashing the BIOS to the latest available firmware... still not luck.

Am I doing something wrong? I just want to get the board working with my drives permanently plugged in :(

The rest of my system specs if it's of any relevance:

Windows 7 64-bit pro
i5-2500k
Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2x2GB 1600 MHz
XFX Radeon HD5850

Go into device manager where it shows all the drivers etc. Where storage is you will see that one of the drivers has a yellow triangle with a ! in it. delete this driver as its a fault and shouldn't be there.
Once you have deleted this the proper marvel drivers (and some others) will install themselves (after a quick restart) and everything should be ok. This driver installs itself for some reason and stops a load of other drivers installing when it does.
This is a genuine problem a lot of asus board owners have had, just go to the asus forums and see.

I don't appear to have a driver issue... Device manager doesn't show any devices to have a problem or fault at all :S I'll give this ago regardless and see if that gets me anywhere.

Its under storage devices and is called something like ACS xxxx i forget what, though i thought this was relating to pci / pci e slots only.

What i would suggest is, clearing your cmos completly. With the deluxe there is a little button on the rear panel to press with a paper clip or something. Cant remember if you have to hold it on or not but remove the cmos battery and unplug the pc while doing it.

At the start i had several issues with my deluxe and drives, wouldnt boot with some of them plugged in but about 3 cmos resets later it was working.

Hey mate,

Do your samsung drives clunk if they are connected when you turn them on? If so they don't like the sata 6 intel ports and you need to flash the firmware on them. I had this problem.

OK something a little bit bizarre here, but it doesn't even appear anymore. The only thing I Have under Storage Controllers is PCI to PCI bridge.

I read on these forums somewhere that someone had issues when they had the Intel Rapid Management software installed. I've uninstalled that and the machine no longer hangs at the Splash screen, but now Hot swapping is very temperamental.

I also seem to have encountered a new issue. Quite often when the computer is booting It will boot into a white screen with pink dots on. This comes on just after it finishes Posting. If I unplug all the drives with exception to the SSD and DVD it never appears.

I'll give your CMOS clearing a go. Hopefully that will get it working.

I read about that issue. I haven't got the Samsung drives plugged into the 6 GB ports and they seem to be working just fine... when the machine is working that is.

OK now I have the problem of Windows refusing to acknowledge that I even have a Marvell Storage controller. Anyone?

So have you looked under Storage Controllers in Device Manager and you don't see a Driver called ACS-6XXXX With a ! next to it??
If you do see it delete it and restart. I know you said you had done this but sometimes it reappears if you update etc taking your j micron drivers with it.

Edit: another thing is PCI to PCI bridge should be under system devices in the device manager not storage controllers so are you sure you clicked the right one (not saying you don't know what your doing its just I don't know how much experience you have :)) Type device manager in the start panel and when you've fetched up device manager go to storage controller.

Yeah for some bizarre reason I have PCI to PCI Bridge under Storage Controllers.

As I said before there are no devices in Device Manager which say they are not working (IE no triangles with a ! next to them).

I had enough of the issue and went out and got a replacement. So far so good with the new motherboard no issues at all... touch wood...
