Hi, I built my system a few weeks ago and I've noticed that the post time is ridiculously slow, I'm talking like 20 secs. The 'asus' splash screen just shows and the board just sits there sometimes, doesn't even register when I press num lock / caps lock etc.

The only USB devices on boot plugged in are KBD, Mouse, Webcam, Printer, ipod usb cable.

I also ensured there was no cd in the drive and the boot was set to 1: HD 2: Disabled.

Anyone have any other ideas how to speed it up?

Disable splash screen and see where it is hanging?

Have you inadvertently enabled Hard Disk Pre-Delay? Also try disabling any controllers that need to initialise BIOSes that you do not use (For example SATA II ports on Marvel controller, Firewire all that crap)

Done, and it's just blank. Then the POST screen appears for a second and it passes.

I haven't seen any option for this, what would it be under on a ASUS board? I heard about the option but can't see it

there is an option in one of the tabs it's set to 10 sec by default you can reduce it to 1 sec I think however it doesn't give much time to hit the delete button to enter the bios. lol

I think it's the third tab.

Yeah I've got that set to 1 sec too

This problem is steadily getting worse, sometimes it posts instantly, other times it locks up on the POST screen, pressing numlock or anything gets no response from keyboard.

Any help? This is driving me crazy!
