what kind of speed should i be aiming for? (i'll be running off the stock cooler in a corsair 600t white). would 4.5GHz be doable without too much heat?

i'll replace with an H60 somewhere down the line but i'm just wondering what kind of speed i could attain without it.

ps. memory is vengeance 1600MHz 8GB. not sure if that makes a difference - i am an overclocking noob

4.5 will be pushing it with the stock cooler. 4.0 or a little more will probably be more like it. Would be well worth just getting your h60 now, rather than faffing about waiting. not like it;s that expensive against the cost of a whole build.

I would just wait personally.

4ghz should be attainable but i'd keep an eye on the temps; the stock cooler is no good for overclocking.

Ive got the arctic cooling 7pro rev2. Im at 4.4 with load temps (Intel burn test load) of 70.
The fan isnt going to max though, and I cant connect it to my fan controller for some bizarre bios error.

Its a pain to OC though, goes against everything you learn with the k series OC where you have to up the turbo multiplier, where 99% of places will say disable the turbo.

as tempting as it is to pump more out of the chip its just not worth it on that crappy stock cooler, go 4ghz till you get a new, no more
