I am in the process of buidling a system, I keep having the problem that on boot I keep getting "(USB)keyboard not detected).
This seems to me to be random as sometimes it does detect it, i took it in to ocz and they couldnt reproduce the problem and suggested something might be shorting on the case.
I came home and have set up the system out of the case and am still getting the same problem.
On the last boot it detected the keyboard so I started to install windows and then on the first reboot windows did I get the same message again, my keyboard is fine on another pc
any ideas
Thanks

Thanks I will have a look if the keyboard is detected one time, otherwise its no use pressing del to get into it because it cant see the keyboard when booting
Is anyone else successfully using a usb keyboard with a P8z68 m/b

Had a quick look in the manual , try changing it from auto to enabled or enabled to auto which ever you need to. Is the keyboard shown just above the setting when you can get it to work that is?

Also you havent got it plugged into the usb3 ports have you ? tried other ports?

I have had enough for today, lol, I think it might be the keyboard at fault, when i first got it i just plugged it into my laptop and it worked fine, I didnt try leaving it in and rebooting, never thought that there might be a problem.
Just tried it in another pc and it is erratic with that one, all my other keyboards are ps2 so its out tomorrow to either get a ps2 to usb adaptor or buy another keyboard.

Lol. I was building my system today using the the same motherboard and I have the same problem. However I'm using a PS/2 keyboard with an 'adapter'. I would NOT recommend using an older PS/2 keyboard with any old adapter as it seems they don't all work unless the PS/2 device is USB certified (pointless really).

I suggest you try another USB keyboard and see if that fixes it. I'm going to try a USB keyboard tomorrow (well today really) and see if that fixes my issue and return the POS 'adapter' I've bought. I also tried using the adapter on the same PC and keyboard I'm typing from now and all I get is 'USB device not recognized'. I think it's something to with the adpater not actually converting the signal between PS/2 and USB. If you have no option other than to get an adapter I think the Belking USB-PS/2 works.

Nothing more frustrating than putting a whole system together and hearing it start up for the first time, only to get- 'No keyboard detected, Press F1 to continue...'

Yes its a stupid message really isn't it "press F1" with no keyboard, I wish I got a m/b with PS/2 but never thought that would be a problem with the keyboard, everything else is working fine and at least I can put everything back in the case now.
The keyboard is SteelSeries Merc Stealth keyboard which I bought as I liked the seperate keypad to save me pressing the wront buttons when I'm getting shot at, lol
I might get the Microsoft SideWinder X4 USB Gaming Keyboard as its had good review on here.
I think I will staret up a new thread about keyboards that do not work with usb m/bs

just bought a cheapo usb keyboard while I decide what better one to get and its all working fine, hooray, now i've got to put everything back in the case, after the F1 Grand Prix of course
