I am to get my new bits this week and have been looking at this info from Intel ref the smart system tech. http://download.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/intel_smart_response_technology_user_guide.pdf

I have a 128gb SSD and two 1 TB Samsung HDD.

Can I install Windows on the SSD drive? Or would the best way be as suggested here?

1. Have only the hdd plugged in, set sata mode to raid but the hdd should be in non-raid status.
2. Install os.
3. Shut down and plug in ssd.
4. Install all drivers (which includes the srt driver+program). You will probably have to reboot.
5. Open IRST program. Choose “Accelerate”, and click “Enable acceleration” Defaults should be fine but you can change anything if you want. Click OK.

The way to install both OS and SRT on the same SSD are something like this:

1. Install OS to mechanical drive
2. Format and partition your SSD, create one for OS and one for SRT
3. Install SRT and its drivers (may need to be in raid mode), once its installed I 'think' the drive is no longer visible under windows.
4. Reinstall OS to earlier created partition on SSD.
5. Format mechanical drive
6. Reinstall SRT + drivers, should pick up on the ready formatted srt partition, make sure its working with your mechanical drive and not the OS partition.
7. Enjoy.

I'm sure there is a better guide out there that I stumbled across, telling you specifically what bios settings to choose etc...
