Hey folks,

Got a really weird issue with that has just surfaced in the last couple of weeks....

Asus P8Z68-v LE mobo will POST fine, boot to windows fine but try to enter BIOS and it hangs.....

Latest version of firmware loaded correctly, tried reseting via jumpers and battery. Seems to have done something as lost the XMP for RAM but still cannot get into the BIOS menu.
Reset was done as per manual for 15sec, and after 3 failed attempts for 24hrs!

Please help, I really wanna get in to clock the 3770k I just picked up and get the XMP back on my RAM.

Cheers,
Scottie

I've had that issue with my Gigabyte and the way I fixed it was to force it to rewrite itself with the secondary BIOS, not sure if the P8Z68 has that feature though.

Hi Doogles,

It doesn't support that unfortunately. I have resigned myself to it either being a faulty chip (new one on order) or a start of a dying board as it will now not recognise 3 out of my 5 SATA connections.... I feel an upgrade to Z77 board coming in my future...

So fitted a new chip and guess what, no change!
Stripped the system back to just CPU and RAM attached and got BIOS menu, started to add components one by one until I discovered it is the GPU. R9 280 has the dual BIOS switch, tired but no change.
Oh well, at least I was able to get onto BIOS, set my XMP and clock the CPU to a nice stable 4.2GHz.

Now just gotta decide if I upgrade the PSU....
