For some years I have been in the habit of using my PC to charge my smartphone, even when the PC has been powered off, not just sleeping; clearly the mobo was still live power-wise. Since I have a USB cable anyway for transferring files to and from the 'phone, this means one less cable creating a mess on my desk.
I'd like to do the same with my current PC, but so far have failed to work out what to do to enable it. The mobile telephone receives power when the PC is sleeping but not when the PC is powered down.
I've searched in the BIOS and in Device Manager / Power Management (to ensure that the PC is not allowed to switch off USB hubs to save power), but to no avail.
Suggestions gratefully received, please.
The PC has a P8Z77-V LX mobo running BIOS v1201 and Windows 7 Professional x64.
Many thanks.
