Anyone able to tell me possibly pitfalls I face with wanting to put 4 dimms into my Commando (P965)? Will it lower overclockability or timings? I really only run at 400mhz but have been wanting to tinker with it to run at 500mhz but will 4 dimms seriously effect my chances of that? Just wondering while ram prices are so low if I should get another 2 dimms. Thanks for your help :)

It makes the northbridge do almost double the work. You can counter that by uping the NB voltage, or loosening ram timings.

Intel mobos are nowhere near as sensitive as AMD mobos, but I'd say yes, in general, 4 sticks will reduce your OC potential on this chipset.

I have 4 sticks of that weird Geil 6400 stuff everybody hates on my P5B Dlx. All's running fine at

Mem 4-4-4-12 401Mhz 2.0v
CPU E6600 3.22Ghz (401*8) 1.325v
Stock NB voltage

I'm pretty sure thats on 1333 strap atm, which helps the NB a bit. I'll go back to 400FSB (1066 strap) and test it out someday. But to be honest, things are more than fast enough as they are :)

I don't see any reason why you shouldn't get 4 sticks of the Cellshock running at 1000mhz in a P965 Commando.

I've 4 sticks of Crucial Ballistix running at 1020mhz in my P965 DS3.

A little extra voltage may be needed, but not much.

And even if you do need to relax the timings slightly, the extra 2gb of RAM will more than make up for it.
