Since getting a quad I've had to bump up the vCore to 1.3 in the BIOS to get it stable at 3.2 but this resulted in the VRM modules getting uber-hot.

Not having any stability issues but was wondering if those tiny VGA memory cooler heatsinks stuck on each VRM would help? Just wondering what if anything people can or are doing to cool them? pics of any mods would be great :)

Yes it will work but they can survive without heatsinks as long as you have good case airflow.

I've got an older Lian Li case which only uses 8cm fans which somewhat restricts the air flow through it. For example I have a rear and top fan exhausting air out, my quad maxes out at around 63c but if I take the side panel off the temps of the quad drop by around 8c. I do have the fans temp controlled but the temp thyristor is sat in mid air so the fans run at a low voltage to keep the noise down to a min.

Those little heatsinks just put off the evil day when you have to move some air across the board. The heatsink can only lose heat if it has airflow across it. They do look pretty though, but at 80p each, they darn well ought to.
