Hi guys, still speccing for my new system, just wanted to ask a quick question.

If I bought the Abit AB9 QuadGT, how would it compare to the IP35 Pro or equivalent motherboards?

It's selling for a hell of a lot cheaper (£60 less) yet clearly has some more life in it. Would I be able to achieve good oc speeds with either?

Thanks guys.

Depends which CPU you will be using.

P965 is still grand for dual-core overclocking, but isn't great with quad-cores.

The P35 is grand with both. And it should also have better support for the upcoming Penryn range of Intel chips (if they interest you).

The 965 does support 45nm and 1333fsb, so you're not sacrificing too much other than perhaps quad-core overclocking potential.

The QuadGT definitely supports 1333MHz, and I'll wait and see about Penryn as lots of the better P965 boards can actually support Penryn with a BIOS upgrade.

Cheers guys.

Out of the AB9 Quad GT (Or another 965 mobo such as the Asus P5B Plus Vista edition) and say a 680i based motherboard (P5N32-E for example), which would overclock better?

It's really difficult to decide which motherboard to get with so many that offer virtually the same features.

Also, are the new 780i boards worth a look or will they all be too expensive?

How about the Abit IP35-E? Or the Gigabyte P31-DS3L? Both are decent dual-core clockers.

Well, I've got up to about £100 to spend on the motherboard. Basically, I want one that's futureproof (1333Mhz+ FSB and 45nm support) that's also capable at overclocking.

I guess I'd be better off with the P35 chip for those things, so I guess it's between the Asus P5K, the Abit IP35 (Is the Pro worth the extra?), the Gigabyte P35-DS4 (Not too sure that this motherboard can take large HSF that require backplates..?) and I guess the MSI P35 Neo2 FR.

Thanks for your help guys.
