Hi all buying some new PA speakers very soon, been eyeing a few up and it's a toss up between these -

Was at a mates party and he has some Intimidation speakers and they sounded horrible and tinny, someone said the amp was wrong and the DJ just said the speakers are ******* so i don't really have much of a good initial stand point with them but would like to be proven wrong.

Notice the latter doesn't have stands and the other two do. £300 is the limit really. Which would you recommend and are there any other that you would go for?

Thanks.

Are you a DJ or using DJ equipment? If so then Look at JBL or Alesis ;) Intimidation made decent mixers back in the day but never knew how to make proper speaker systems. I would probably go for a set of Alesis powered monitors tbh.

when you say DJ'ing, what are you planning to use the speakers for? Booth monitors? FOH? there are so many different speakers for different applications...

I must say, I've not heard of Intimidation, so I would say go for a well know brand such as EV or turbosound. :)

My budget is £300, using them for parties and bedroom DJ use. I DJ quite deep sounds so need to be able to handle it. Don't really want monitor speakers tbh as i'm using them for parties.

Then the Wharddales you have linked to at htfr will be great. I myself DJ minimal and Tech house and have experince with that package and thought it was very well put together for the price.

something like a mackie srm 450 could be had for around £300 2nd hand... This works well for house parties and also a bedroom booth monitor in my experience.
