I am working out the confusion - I think some of it is just what is what. The OSI model take a packet and ‘bounces’ it up or down the layers, or moves it might be better way of putting it. For a while I thought it was the breakdown of a packet itself. Same with TCP/IP.
But it’s still confusing in terms of the packet’s protocols - does it only need 1, out of all the TCP UDP, HTTP, Ethernet etc, OR as it looks as it encapsulated layers does it pick one of them for each layer? So, IP contains TCP UDP, and that contains the next protocol (I think http)? There are a million diagrams out there, which confuse stuff for me. I am thinking of ordering those books, someone mentions yesterday.,
