Hello gents,

I was helping my mate reinstall windows, and stumbled upon a folder with child pornography.

What should i do? Shal i call the police?

Its my mates. We have been friends for years, i have known him since primary school.

I had to ask, as someone may of planted on him, or even others use his computer. I didnt want to tell the police instantly, as it could cause a lot of damage if it didnt turn out to be his.

Thats upto the police and your mate to sort out. Just report it and let police do the rest!

Report it, then let him explain to the police that he let someone use his computer...

This is your friend. Suppose he HAS done this, he may not admit it. Would you trust him?

I say let the police deal with it, to take that decision off your hands

tbh the right thing to do would be to report him to the police but im not sure what i would do if i was in your shoes. confront him first its going to be even worse if you go to the police and he finds out that a friend since primary school shopped him before saying anything.

Hang on if your reinstalling? surely youve formatted over it?....or was it on a seperate HDD?
