God knows what's up but every now and then I get a BSOD with that error. Nothing in particular makes it happen, it could be clicking on a link in my browser, starting an application or game or just opening up "My Computer".

For instance, I've had occur it when I click on the icon for Dreamweaver, and not 10 mins back I had it when I clicked on Guild Wars. Sometimes it doesn't occur for weeks but then I can just click on a icon and bam, BSOD! 99% of the time the PC is rock stable, it's just that this thing is so random that it's bloody annoying.

Two of the files I've seen on the BSOD are SRESCAN.SYS and USBPORT.SYS.

Not a Vista bug. This is usually caused by bad or overclocked hardware. Can sometimes be caused by a badly bugged device driver but that is quite rare. The programmer would need to really mess up to cause it.

Quick Google reveals that "SRESCAN.SYS" is a ZoneAlarm driver. Why are you running ZoneAlarm if you want a stable system??? ZoneAlarm (and pretty much all products like it) do very very very very dodgy things inside the kernel which destablise the system. That's why Microsoft no longer allows this type of "kernel patching" in Vista.

Zone Alarm is the only free firewall that doesn't interfere with Guild Wars. All the other decent ones seem to have a problem with it for some reason, and there's no way I'm going on-line without a firewall.
