Pagefile with SSD drives?

My system has 16GB of RAM, 256GB SSD and a 2TB harddrive. I've noticed and wondered about what was sapping so much of my SSD drive when I don't really have that much installed. After digging around, I noticed I have a 16GB pagefile on my SSD.

Do I really need a pagefile so large, especially on my SSD where space can be precious at times. I know my system would probably run smoother with the pagefile on the SSD, but surely 4GB would seem more reasonable?

I'd like to see what other people think and have setup on their systems.

I've got one on my 128GB ssd (2GB) and another on another harddrive (8GB) for extra space if needed.... windows supports more than one page file and it should pick the best option based on requirements etc.

We got along with hard drive page files for ages before ssds and it seems to work well for me :)

You need some kind of pagefile for best stability/compatibility but mostly don't need too much. I have mine set to IIRC 1GB or 1.2GB or something min size (so there is enough space to write out BSOD dumps, etc.) and then set an upper size around 8GB IIRC though never seen it using more than 2GB (the rare time it actually uses it to any significant degree) unless something has gone badly wrong.

I leave my page file on the SSD but change it to a min of 200mb and a max of 1024mb

I have 6GB of ram and had no issues at all
