Paint Flaking

On my Focus 1999 the paint is flaking on the rear wheel arch drivers side. Picture below. I am wanting to get it repainted/repaired. Anything I should worry about, and what shall I do to fix it? I was worried that someone may have went into me, but it is so small it cannot be the case, and there is no other damage.

It is an old car so it is understandable if there is rust/scratches however the flake of paint I feel could get worse if I just leave it and I want to keep the car in good shape as it still looks good as new apart from minor scratches. :)

I don't see how they will get a good match without spraying most of the panel, then there's the rust that's lurking. Just do yourself and your wallet a favour and touch it in. I can tell you know it will be more than £50.

I would take it to a local body shop, last time I had something similar fixed it cost me about £50.

;)

Plus a friend of mine who knows a good body shop worker said it would be under £100, and thought it would be £60. I will ask for a quote and see how much it will cost and I shall let you know.

Looks a bit too severe for a touch up pen! The touch up paint will just come off again. Since OP likes the car, it's in good nick otherwise, wants to keep it for the foreseeable future, etc. it's easily worth the investment of fixing properly. This isn't just some pink Fiesta!

Exactly this, inside and outside it looked newer than my mates 2002 Focus. :)

I want to keep the car in good nick so when I come to sell it soon it doesn't have no paint on it!

Not if you give it a light key. FWIW I bought a new rear bumper for £5 for my Fiesta and had it sprayed (cost me nothing) as the old one was faded and creased. If I had to pay for it to be painted I wouldn't have bothered, not that car I sold a year ago has anything to do with this thread.. There's a load of rust to be sorted so it's going to need more work than just sanding down and painting so it's up to him to either get a proper job done of just touch it in and make do.

BTW I don't know how you can take the mick out of me taking care of my Fiesta in one thread and then make out that I didn't care about it in another. You're a very strange old man.

No point letting it get worse if its serviceable on every thing else. That’s why a £50 touch up rather than a whole panel respray is probably sensible.
