Paint mismatch

it has been done from the paint code, IRL it is much darker.

the car is a 2017 SEAT so I wouldn't have thought there would be that much difference (the sprayer mentioned fading)

we paid £85, which is the same as what SEAT quoted us, but this place is closer (more convenient)

UV fading is an odd one - sometimes happens on some cars or parts much quicker than others.
If I google the paint code it looks much closer to the original mirror though

That's a pretty poor match, but assuming the sprayer has done it according to the spec. you've provided them, I'm not sure you've got much comeback unfortunately.

If you'd left the car (or at least the other mirror cover) with them and asked them to match it then you could probably reject it, but if you've just given them the paint code then they've done as you asked.

It's the OP's car, not yours, so quite frankly your opinion on the matter is irrelevant.
I've taken it back to him today and he is going to "see what he can do"
Initially he tried telling me there is nothing he can do, but fairly quickly changed his mind and said he can try and colour match it.

and to be clear the mirror cap was dropped off by the missus in the car it belonged to, the guy took the paint code off the inside of the door.
he chose that option, he didn't ask for the old cap to be left or explain that paint code alone might not match the original

Imagine how bad his crash damage repairs, let alone resprays must be

This is the frustrating bit, he has repaired my car before when I reversed into a skip and you cannot tell (Black Octavia)
he's been doing this for over 40 years he said, so, mildy frustrating that he has just used the paint code instead of using his experience to know that, that would likely have caused a paint mismatch.

his only argument was that the mirror was dropped off and he didn't have the car outside to match it against, but if he had asked I would have left him the old mirror cap (like I've done this time)

I think like others have said he just couldn't be bothered with it being such a small job.

There is a point where you just have to stop caring so much about paint work if you actually want to use the car. Otherwise you'll be spending £1000s keeping it perfect.
The mirror was hit by a lorry passing it whilst the missus was parked at the side of the road, the company that own the lorry are paying for the repair.
They asked that we don't go through insurance and they will just pay for the repair themselves.

clips that hold the mirror cap on were broken so it doesn't stay in place very well.
the painted mirror cap in the OP is a brand new replacement that was delivered just primered (next to the original broken one of course)
the indicator lens was also broken and has already been replaced.
I just need the painted mirror cap sorting now and the repair will be complete.

some wild opinions in this thread tbh, the one that pee'd me off the most was about it being a run of the mill car, it is the most expensive car I have ever bought (£13k) and I like to look after my possessions that I have spent hard earnt money on, I suppose these people are the sort of people who go around smashing their doors into other peoples cars in car parks and then say "its just a car"
