Paint mismatch

Can you not just buy pre painted caps directly from Seat?
Which, with age still wont match, plus as I said earlier, there are often many variants of the same colour, whether they disclose it or not - for example, Orient Blau on BMW's seems to change per generation, as does Techno Violet/Atlantis Blue, when you sit 2 different generations next to each other with brand new paint/low mileage mint condition garage queen for a musuem etc.

Took my car in to get the rear bumper sorted..they said they use a paint spectrometer or spectrophotometer . Get it back wed so hopefully ok

That I agree with but sometimes it can be much closer than getting one painted from a bodyshop but again it's all down to luck. It's just easier painting them gloss black :P

when I got rear ended in my yellow peril the respray at the back initially was awful. I took it back and they improved it but it was never perfect after. they said colour matching esp older cars is almost impossible with some colours being worse than others . . (red is one of the worst).

ultimately I had to live with it, otherwise the cost would have been so high as to write off the car.. if you are not happy then push back but it may be it will never be perfect.

imo that image does not look great but it's hard to tell in a photo with non uniform light.

There is a point where you just have to stop caring so much about paint work if you actually want to use the car. Otherwise you'll be spending £1000s keeping it perfect.

Yes in regards to largely unavoidable things like stone chips, but not in terms of a freshly painted mirror

The mirror was hit by a lorry passing it whilst the missus was parked at the side of the road, the company that own the lorry are paying for the repair.
They asked that we don't go through insurance and they will just pay for the repair themselves.

clips that hold the mirror cap on were broken so it doesn't stay in place very well.
the painted mirror cap in the OP is a brand new replacement that was delivered just primered (next to the original broken one of course)
the indicator lens was also broken and has already been replaced.
I just need the painted mirror cap sorting now and the repair will be complete.

some wild opinions in this thread tbh, the one that pee'd me off the most was about it being a run of the mill car, it is the most expensive car I have ever bought (£13k) and I like to look after my possessions that I have spent hard earnt money on, I suppose these people are the sort of people who go around smashing their doors into other peoples cars in car parks and then say "its just a car"
