Just wanted to draw your attention to a great little program I have found which allows kids to draw pictures and learn about shapes etc etc and also gives them practice using the mouse.. It's basically mspaint with a bit more to it and very child friendly.

My 4 year old loves it and astounds me at how coordinated he is with the mouse and cursor

It's called Tuxpaint and is free, it can be downloaded here:
www.tuxpaint.org

Enjoy :)

artrage is awesome too, not used tuxpaint, will give it a go :)

with artrage, you use actual brushes etc, so the colours smudge & mix, really cool software, seen nothing else like it

Artrage looks very impressive but perhaps a little advanced for my wee nipper.

Will keep it in mind though :)

Brilliant software.

ArtRage is used in Art GCSE a lot at my school. They have the paid version on the art computers, and the free on the network.

ArtRage is a little to complicated for a 4 year old. Tuxpaint looks very friendly to such an age range.

I dunno if its free or not but check ouy Dazzle too. we use this at school for the infants and junior kids and they absolutly love it. nice and simple but with loads of different painting and drawing options
