Looking to paint the rooms in my house, starting with the bathroom, the previous occupants used some god awful paint that rubs off with your fingers.

To start with I'm looking for a bathroom paint which is water resistant and a satin paint for doing all the woodwork (door frames, windows etc) in the house.

As for rooms that don't need 'special' paint, I would guess any old emulsion should do the job?

The only brand I know is Dulux, they do a Quick Dry Satin Wood and a Bathroom+ paint but are they any good?

Thanks

Sounds like a lot of sanding down is required prior to painting anything. Paint wise depends on personal preference really but nothing wrong with crown or brewers etc

Leyland Acrylic Eggshell for bathrooms and kitchens. It's waterproof and you can scrub it and it won't mark. It's not cheap, but well worth it. You can do woodwork with it as well. It's has a slight sheen to it.

I struggled to get a decent finish with Dulux Satin - it really showed the brush marks. If you don't want gloss, an oil based Eggshell is another good option.

Leyland emulsion is fine and not dear. Dulux Decorators Centres do Glidden emulsion and I've had good results with that too. I tried Crown last time which didn't cover so well.

I used Farrow and Ball Estate Eggshell for woodwork and I've been very impressed.

As others have said, for the walls make sure you do your prep work before starting.

Johnstones paint for sure.

Hey now,

I need to get some paint for my new bathroom, fresh plaster on all walls & ceiling so will be mist coating with some emulsion.

For the finish coat i need a suitable paint, Wickes currently have 2 for 1 on Dulux.

Has anyone used their Bathroom + range? it says it has a soft sheen but i hate a silk like finish on walls, just how shiny is this?

My preference would be for a bathroom suitable matt

We've just had a Johnstone's decorator centre open up so i also have their paints available now

We've always wanged on a load of trade white as an undercoat and then 2 coats of Bathroom + Kitchen Dulux. Give a nice bright sheen and is rather tough/easy to clean.

Dulux Bathroom+ is not for you then, it's quite shiny!

I used Dulux Diamond in my last house when i refitted the kitchen , that was pretty good paint and could be wiped down no problem. Maybe i should pop in and see what they can do

I really rate that stuff. Just wiped crayon marks off the nursery walls over the weekend, looks like new.

You can't do that with Farrow and Ball!
