Thick fluffy roller, work methodically and if you don't mind paying the premium and assuming you're painting white, the "pink dry to white" paints make life a lot easier.

Thats what they are like, thick so they dont drip

They still tend to spray with a roller though

And as people have said very fluffy roller or a good old fashioned long bristled emulsion brush to paint artex. I found thinner emulsion in 3-4 coats wacked over fast has just as good an effect as long slow coats with a thick paint

Paint a metre sq at a time and work away from the windows left to right, that way you should cover the ceiling without any misses.

Use a good quality roller not the cheap stuff from BQ thick pile abt half inch thick dont overload the roller and just work slowly and yea they all splash.

HTH

Youll get splashing no matter what roller or paint you use. Id suggest getting a few old sheets to cover as much of the room as possible.

This. It's a sheeps wool roller.

Rollers spread paint everywhere, i suppose you never painted.

Eh?

Dust sheets and old clothes. You'll end up covered in specks of paint, but that's what a shower is for.

And gloss on a ceiling? You're a glutton for punishment and mental to boot!
