So, I've got the itch to set about painting the minis for just about every board game I have, which I reckon will make for yet another hobby that I just don't have the time for -- but still!

Can anyone recommend anywhere to grab a decent starter kit, ideally including brushes, base coats and a variety of paint colours? Would need to be suitable for plastic minis for example those found in the likes of Battlelore, Last Night on Earth, Mansions of Madness yadda yadda.

Where do the painters among us generally get their supplies from? Games Workshop is in town, so naturally the first choice, but just wondering if there are any more inventive independents out there online that people use instead?

Beware - paint addiction starts with a few paints, then before you know it you're up to your nuts in paint pots!

I started painting again about 6 months back - love it more than I did when I was a kid now - and started with a few pots from GW. It took about 30 mins of painting to realise I didn't have everything I needed and went back for some more. Then back for some more. Suddenly it started to get expensive at £2.40 a pot! A few friends suggested Vallejo model color and Valjo Game Color paints, P3 Formula paints, and Reaper. I checked em all out and for me the Vallejo Game Color came out on top - the colour range closely matches GWs and, best of all, they come in dropper bottles, which are worth their weight in gold. All are cheaper than GW paints btw - although I stick with GW for the washes. Hope that helps.

Oh, I gave in on buying in bits and went for this in the end :)

Thanks guys. :) That Vallejo Game Colour set is looking mighty tempting. Will have to see how the finances pan out next month (and gain approval of the wife, obviously!). :D
