Not sure what to do here
I've removed some wall paper and there's a little glue left. Can this be painted? It's not old and was only papered a couple of years ago
Or what should I be doing to make the wall suitable to paint. All the glue has dried fine and you can hardly tell it's there

Sorry to say that for a proper job this has to be washed off.
Plenty of hot water and washing up liquid or even better sugar soap.
If you seriously won't mind a bumpy surface then a coat of zinserr 123 first

once you've papered a wall its not quite a one way street but it is a quite hard to ever be able to paint the wall again if its not being re-plastered.

You need to get everything off, so steamer and then lots of sugar soap and really really scrub everything to get it really smooth.

It'll be super obvious if you don't do it properly i'm afraid, thats why in our last house i just put up new paper as it was a lot less faff than trying to get it to a point that it'd be ok to paint.

Wow. Looks like I'm going to have do a little more work. Previous owner has papered a feature wall in every room on aa new build house. I've removed the paper and you cannot even seen the old paste. But if it's wet for turns a little sticky.
I guess I'm going to have to do it properly

Zinsser Gardz is what you need for this.

Key Features & Benefits
•Repairs torn paper on damaged drywall, eliminates bubbles
•Seals old wallpaper adhesive
•Water-based, low odour, dries clear
•Dries fast to a hard, moisture-proof film
•Binds down chalky surfaces
•Can be applied to high-pH surfaces
•Cleans up with soap and water

Skim coat over it with multi finish is what I do with a wall covered with wallpaper deposits. Might not be cost effective unless you can do it yourself, but it saves hours of scrubbing and steaming / priming.

We left a bit of paste on the walls thinking it wouldn't be noticeable, we were wrong and ow have lots of marks on the walls:mad:. I deffo make sure there's no paste.

Try removing paint from walls and you soon discover why people put paper on walls. :)

Paper only really peels when it's not been put up properly.
