Both our gas and electric meter cupboards on the outside of the house are starting to look very stained and discoloured. If possible I'd like to give them a coat of paint to freshen up the appearance but wondering if, 1. This is actually permitted and, 2. If yes then what's the best paint to use which won't dissolve the plastic/fibreglass and will adhere to the surface and not flake off.

Does it get sunlight on it? Is it something you want to return to original white?

You can use a retrobright type chemical or alternatively have a go at bleaching it, just be careful to cover its surrounding area.

I sanded and painted ours a year or two ago and it's still looking fine. I used Rustoleum All Surface Paint as I was passing through homebase and seen it on a clearance shelf dirt cheap.

I didn't use a primer or anything because that paint didn't require one.

I've used Rustoleum before as well as the Bedec, and they're both self priming which is a bonus. :)

Just to confirm that worked a treat. After cleaning the moss and algae off, one coat has done the trick. Enough of the paint left over to tackle the garage woodwork, though I need to fit some new weather boarding above the door.
Thanks for all the help and suggestion.

That being what exactly? ;)

Just done mine too but with the Zinsser AllCoat. When it's properly cured I will refresh the silicone around it too.
