Hi,

Our X360 has been set on PAL-50 ever since we got it. We downloaded Top Spin 2 which required PAL-60 so we followed Microsoft instructions to change the console to PAL-60:

Switch to TV mode (on the HD connector thing) so the console starts in non-HD mode
Set the console to PAL-60.
Turn off the console.
Change the switch to HD.
Turn the console back on.

This worked and we were able to play the Top Spin 2 demo

I just wondered what it's best to keep the console on? PAL-50 or PAL-60?

Thanks,
Craig.

PAL 60 afaik

afaik, there are some games on the 360 that dont support PAL 50, I read on a thread on here earlier today... I keep mine on PAL 60, and when I switch it to HD for my big telly downstairs..

I haven't got a TV (only got my tft) and i can't switch it to PAL-60 unless i do it blind, any ideas?

How am I supposed to set it to PAL-60 on the xbox while I can't see what I am doing though?

Not got the normal composite cable around? I'm sure somebody could tell you the exact buttons to press to get it done.

Could anyone be so kind to give me directions on doing this blind? (no non hd screen to try it on)

All i need is the buttons to press in order on the dash to change the setting. thanks.

I could do with help on this too. I just bought Top Spin 2 and found i can't play it on my Samsung 913N.
It asks me to change my console to PAL-60, even though when i look ion the display properties it actually says it's PAL-60 already !!

*edit*

Just took a look at THIS, which is weird as Oblivion works fine on my LCD !!!

err surely your screen has a composite input regardless of whether its HD or not?

afaik you cant actually change the pal setting unless you have the component cable set to non HD or swap it out for a generic composite (core pack cable), maybe with the scart pack but not sure?

i would check for ya but ive got my connected via VGA so again, i cant change it wihtout swapping cables over

I just sorted mine, i had to connect it to my tv via composite.
If you want to try doing it blind, do as follows :-
Right, right, right, A, A, down, down, A, up, A, up, A

:)

It's annoying that you have to set it to PAL-50 to play some original Xbox games. Are they ever going to do a dashboard update that will allow you to change it when using a VGA cable/HD mode?
