Hello,

I have a Xbox 360 connected to a standard 28" widescreen TV.

When running in PAL 50 the picture/games seems fine, same as it does when watching TV.

When i enabled PAL 60 the pictures seems bigger/streched

Can anyone explain this ?

Thanks Ben

Its just the tubes scanning at a faster rate, its obviously not been quite calibrated to your screen size for 60hz perfectly. All CRT's do the same when you change the scan frequency.

pal 50 has 625 lines at 50Hz

pal 60 has 525 lines at 60 Hz (basically NTSC with pal colour coding)

so the reason pal 60 dont look as good is to do with the fact it is a lesser resolution as jez says the scan rate affects the image size

Use PAL50, as this is what your UK TV will be primarily calibrated to, although to be honest it doesnt matter, just use whichever you prefer.

With pal50 you get letter boxing, ie: black bars top and bottom. With pal60, you dont get the letterboxing, but the resolution of the visible image is decreased.

Decide whether you like sharp image or bigger screen and set accordingly.
