Hi all its a name I'm unfamiliar with. I was contemplating a Msi 1080 gaming X but at £696 I don't think so.
Anyway after getting some excellent advice on here Palits name came up.
Do any of you have these cards? If so could I ask for your thoughts.
The Gamerock premier is out of stock at the moment, but I'm still interested in this card and the Gamerock and Super Jetstream cards.
I see they only have a 2 yr warranty is it a uk one?
Any advice would be most appreciated
Thank you

I've had most major brand cards in the past, including Palit. If I were buying a 1080 at this minute then the Super Jetstream would be the one I went for.

Don't think they have UK RMA, but TBH things like that have never been something I look at when choosing a card, I go for performance and the quietness of the cooler.

They have the best overclocks, best cooler, lowest temps, dual bios

Downside they are 2.5 slots, 2 years warranty and warranty is in hong kong (obviously initially you ship back to ocuk)

But gainward, xotac and pailt have made the best 1080 by a huge margin this time and all better then the normal brand names.

Just gogole reviews of the pailt 980ti to see how goo they are. They made one of the fastest AIB you could buy outside of the the EVGA kingpin and HOF

xotac, goo ? are you typing on a pon ? :D

I'll let you guess if that's a phone or a pony ...

What Greebo's saying is true, kinda, because their 1080 has reviewed best overall BUT not by as huge of a margin as he says. Imo, the minor temp/noise gains are offset by the fact that warranty is only 2 years & their CS is poo. Why would you do that when you can get something like Zotac/EVGA with 3 more years of warranty AND better service? At the very least think of re-sale value if you ever plan to upgrade, those things WILL matter.

In stark contrast, I base a lot of my decision on the warranty. If the warranty is something that's important to you, then I recommend EVGA, Gigabyte, then MSI (in that order).

If it's not an issue, then my opinion is to get the cheapest card with a vaguely reasonable cooler, which in this case is a Palit. The 1080 is a very power efficient card and, for the most part, all the cards perform very similarly. HERE's a noise comparison for various 1070's - the 1080's will have identical results. The full review can be found on Hexus.

Were it my choice, I'd get the EVGA ACX given you have a height limit. It's £30 extra for another year's warranty :p

Cheers Greebo,so your very happy with your super Jetstream mate, is it quiet? A good performer etc..thanks

I am guessing you are not including Zotac on that list because there is no UK RMA centre?

Yep :)

I also think 5 year warranty is a little unnecessary - if they break after 3 years you can usually get like for like replacement for mid range prices.

Each to their own of course!

Sorry Poneros I should have mentioned...the Zotacs height is way too big for my case, length I'd get away with,height..not a chance. Or else I would have had the Zotac like a shot mate

fair enough, I do have to say, I've owned two Zotac cards thus far, both have been great. One, bought in 2007, still runs like a champ and has great factory overclocks. I always associate Zotac with great factory overclocks.

Not everyone is an overclocker master and it definitely helps.

I have a gamerock 1080 that boosts to 1950mhz out of the box, and on a stock fan profile only ever drops to 1900 @70 degrees. Not tried to overclock yet because really I couldn't gain much if I tried, judging by other users' overclocks. The LEDs can be switched off, but you have to use their 'thundermaster' overclocking software and then they can stay off automatically every time you switch on. The same can be done with different colours which you can choose

you can probably push it further, although it's debatable if it makes much difference in games. My Zotac 1080 runs at 2075 out of the box and overclocks stably at 2160 on air ... pretty crazy.

I'm incredibly unlucky, I think I've only owned 2 cards that haven't needed an RMA :p

I'm sure Gibbo said somewhere that Ocuk honour the warranty for the 5 years for the Zotac cards.

That's correct, but that just means you send it to OcUK rather than Zotac. It saves on postage, but not on turnaround times, information, or what you get as a replacement.

I don't mean to discourage people buying anything other than the brands I go for, but it's something to eb aware of - hopefully you won't have to use it at all!

Thanks all again for the advice guys..what about the Msi Armor? No one seems to mention this much..does the lack of a backplate put people off
Cheers

Normally i would always go EVGA due to rma in uk and warranty but my preorder of my FTW has yet to arrive and it would appear from reviews/other people who have got them, its not going to perform as well as my pailt does yet costs a lot more (well it does now anyway)

fans are off until 50c (i think) which means totally quiet surfing and even when gaming they are quiet.

I have a waterblock coming for it in two weeks time and then im going to put the extra voltage bios on it and see if i can get it to 2300-2400 :)

Nice..thanks Greebo, are you gaming with it on your 4K monitor much?
I'd love to hear your thoughts on Rottr,Gta V Witcher 3 if you own them mate.
Thanks again
