I'm thinking of getting the 670 Jetstream model for my first ever GPU (in my first ever build).

Has anyone got this card? What do they think of it?

I have two 23" U2311H monitors, each at 1080p. Ideally, I want every setting in every game turned up to full, while still giving an excellent framerate.

Is a 670 the best to go for? As I'll be at uni for the next 3/4 years (ha...), I won't be looking at upgrading for a while. Maybe SLI them a long way down the road.

I'd be interested to know if the 2GB is enough also? I've heard conflicting views with that.

If it helps, this is my current build:

Case: Cosair 650D
Mobo: Asus P8Z68-V PRO
CPU: i5 2500K
RAM: 4GB (Think it's corsair vengeance)
HDD: Spinpoint F1 1TB
PSU: Corsair TX850 - non modular :-(

As a last question, will that card fit comfortably with a wireless card and a sound card as well? What if I SLI down the road?

The wireless card is a necessity for me and the sound card would be useful for Dolby Digital encoding as one of the audio systems I've got doesn't support 5.1 LPCM (which the majority of PC games use).

Your thoughts would be appreciated!

Cheers

Never heard of that make, but the 670 is a solid card. I'd choose my card on price/value for money. If it's 300 or sub I'd get a 670, if it's above, you can get a 7970 for that price, which is a better card so I'd go for that.

Like I said I'd make my decision of price/performance. and the 670 and amd 7970 are on very good deals on OcUK at the mo.

Or

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-097-GI&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=938 + 3 free games, which can be sold to drive the cost down to a similar 670 above price.

Thanks for the reply. All of the reviews I've read put the card almost on par with a 680, and I think it's available for around 320ish so I'm pretty happy with it.

Will the card, a wireless adaptor and sound card all fit without it being too much of a tight squeeze? What about with another in the future?

I'm a bit concerned about the cooling as well. With the 650D there's one 200mm intake fan the the front and a 200mm output on the top with a rear 120mm output on the back. I think.

There's a small exhaust on the I/O of the card, but for the most part the reviews said it will vent hot air into the case itself (http://www.guru3d.com/article/palit-geforce-gtx-670-jetstream-review/3).

So, I think, it's venting hot air downwards with cool air coming in from the right (case 200m, front). But the case won't be able to vent the hot air effectively because it won't be able to circulate to the top output fans efficiently? As its being pushed downwards by the card and inwards from the front case fan.

That doesn't make it any sense, does it? I'll try and do a picture in paint when I get a to a computer.

Lastly, I'll have a bit of money left over. Think it's worth swapping out the current PSU for one that's modular? What would be needed to make sure I can SLI in the future?

The one I have now would be able to do that fine, but with it being non modular it leaves cables all over the place. :-(

Reading Palit's own (shoddy) website, it says the card has blue LEDs ...

Personally, I wouldn't buy one for that reason alone

Shame really, because the rest of the card looks nice !
