My Media PC can only accomodate single slot or short double slot cards, and I want to use it to run Windows XP 32bit (for older games) and Linux.

Now at the moment it's using the onboard geforce 7100, so I'm looking to upgrade it. It has a 380W Antec earthwatts PSU with a single PCI-E connector. Reading around the web, this PSU can handle any single PCI-E connector card just fine as it has a strong 12V rail and is a true output rated PSU.

At first, I thought about a 8800GT or 9800GT single slot, but heard they are quite noisy. So now I'm thinking about the low powered green 1GB GTS 250's, as nVidia is better at Linux from what I've read and playing older games that use opengl. Plus I have a 5770 in my main rig and it would be nice to have a nVidia card in the other PC.

These cards are much shorter than a regular GTS 250, and fit my HTPC case. Plus they can be found for very cheap.

Anyone experienced these cards? Noise?

Are they much slower than a regular GTS 250 (128 cores clocked at 675 1458 900x2 (1800)) in real world usage. It must be faster than a 9800GT so it won't be that bad.

Very hard to find info on these cards on the net, but I went ahead and picked up an E-Green for £45 second hand.

It apparently uses a low powered version of the G92 chip - a G92-426. Never even knew these existed. They have slower clocks listed above but the full 128 shader cores. Hopefully it won't be that much slower, but the short PCB makes them a nice little card over a 9800GT.

Also has an easy to remove platic shroud - four external screws - so I can add a quiet fan directly to the heatsink if the default one turns out to be a little noisy.

I think OCUK used to sell them too, so was hoping someone here owned one.
