I know I may need to ask with Nvidia or MSI for support on this but hoping someone here has come across this issue before as it is a popular choice / recommendation of motherboard on here (which is where I got it from, thank you )

I decided to upgrade my motherboard, processor and memory a week ago and left everything else as what I had before, including the Palit Geforce GTX 1060 gfx card. I have now upgraded to AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6GHz, MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX and the Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x 8GB) 3200MHz DDR4.

The upgrade went fine with the exception of video issues when starting (or restarting) up the PC which I did not have before. I have dual display and I am get all sorts of different combinations between only recognising 1 screen initially, different default screens or flickering and resetting of the screens.

Once I manage to get a start up that settles correctly, I have no other issues after and can even play games on it without a problem. I could almost live with this if it didn't crash the PC sometimes on startup and last time I caused a sector error on my SSD.

The event log only shows a standard type error of 'Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.'

I have tried everything I can think of from resetting settings in the MB, GFX card, wiping and reinstalling the drivers. I have tried a few different settings too with no luck and the MB doesn't have a lot of options for the GFX card to change to begin with.

I can only see a format as the next option but maybe someone on here has come across the issue before or has some advice that could help, anything at this stage I will gratefully recieve :D

I think it's a bios issue could try the new beta e7c02ams.341 bios or .30 or .31
Another thing that might be worth trying before a bios update is enabling fast boot in Windows, this fixed the issue for me.

Thanks Joxeon, I didn't think to update the bios as it was on a recent version .32. I can see there is 1 newer one on the MSI support page, will try that.

As for the beta version, are you picking that up from the MSI forums? or have I missed somewhere on the main MSI site that has the beta bios?

Ref the fast boot, I have tried changing that several times with no difference so far.

Yeah, the link for the beta was posted on the msi forum I think. You could always try the older bios if that one doesn't fix it, I'm pretty sure .30 doesn't have the bug but won't have the enhanced ram compatibility etc.

Installed the beta a few mins ago and done two restarts and both have worked perfectly. Based on the fact I could not get one working initially correctly before, I think its safe to say that this fixes it.

Thank you very much for your help with this :D
