Hey,

I really really like the new Pixi Plus - very slim, full qwerty keyboard, shouldn't be too pricey, and runs WebOS which is highly rated.

Palm Pixi Plus

I'm thinking about getting this at the beginning of July (if I can get a good deal on O2), but I really wanted an Android based phone :( I know WebOS can still sync with Google contacts etc, but I guess features like the Palm appstore are lacking!

So I guess I'm asking you guys, a) should I take a gamble on the Pixi, or b) are there any similar phones (thin, qwerty, unique, cheap-ish) that run Android. And maybe c) is it possible to hack Android onto Palm phones?! :p

Cheers,

Su

Yup, definitely need a hardware keyboard - touchscreen is ace for browsing and navigation, but I need something tactile to type on!

Milestone is at the top of my list, but at ~£350 it's pretty pricey... I'm guessing the Pixi will weigh in at £200-250 as an in-contract upgrade with O2. Also I get the impression that Droid 2 (Nexus 2?!) is not too far off, so I wouldn't want to drop the best part of 400 notes on a Milestone now!

Cheers,

lol that's an awful photochop Robbo :p keyboard looks great, but it does seem very FAT, even for a chop!

Nexus 2 / Droid 2 would be perfect, especially if they sort the battery life. But I suspect release would be towards the end of the year, if not 2011. Also it will probably cost a metric **** tonne of ££.

I dunno how much longer I can suffer with this Blackberry Pearl :p

Does it being fat bother you that much? First thing my uncle does when I show him a new phone, puts it in his pocket...

Yup, I do that too *embarrassed*. Although your pocket is where your phone stays for 90% of the day anyway, so it is a big deal!

Gotta tell you, was in a shop trying out various phones with keyboards, and the Milestone was by far the worst...

Yeah I tried the Milestone out in CPWH, and the keys were pretty small and not particularly tactile, but still better than poking a bit of solid glass!! :p

The Palm Pre and Pixi both have solid keyboards supposedly which is a major plus point imo. I do like my Blackberry keys, but I really don't want something as clinical as Blackberry OS on my personal phone any more... :(

...perhaps look at the Dell Streak (Launching 4th June on O2), which has a screen so big it doesn't matter how fat your fingers are :p

My fingers are very dainty, thank you very much :p I just don't like touchscreens!!
