Hope you guys and girls can help.

I think I'm pretty much set on buying one of these DVD recorders. I just want a basic but good quality unit with built in freeview and this seems to do the job but I just wanted to see what you think. Should I be looking at something else? My budget is pretty fixed and this unit can be had for £150.

PVR's aren't really an option as I need to be able to take my recordings to watch in a different room.

Thanks.

I've got a DMRES10 (the same but no freeview).
Pretty much does what it says on the tin.
For a dvd recorder it's about one of the cheapest where you don't get recording artifacts due to inherent design faults.

I believe Panasonic are bringing out a new range soon so a few offers on the old range now.

I don;t have that one. I have a Panasonic DVD recorder/ HDD and find it very easy to use. I also like the 1 second start record time. Press the button and you are off. Other systems can take 15 seconds to start recording so that swayed me a lot.

Easy to navigate so guessing yours will be.

It is unlikely the player in your other room can play RAM discs so make sure you use +/- RW's.

RAM discs give you more features but compatibility is very low.

Thanks for the replies.

My other DVD player is +/- R/RW only so no ram for me at the moment. By the end of the year the watching programs in another room thing will be less of an issue anyway. I might be tempted to get a single RAM disc and leave it in there incase I need to pause a program at any point.

Cool, well I think I'll get that ordered then :D
