Hey guys, looking to pick something up in the black friday madness, more specifically a 50inch 4k TV - and this little beauty has caught my eye.

I am looking at around the £700 mark. Only thing that 'concerns' me if I was being picky is that the HDR on this is HDR8 and not HDR10. Not tha tI understand the difference, but enough people on reviews has mentioned the fact.

Now 2 questions;

Does this matter much at all?

What TV would you pick up for £700 at the 50inch mark?

Thanks

I have the TX-50DX750B.

1. Nope. Just watch Mad Max 4k!

I just went with this set after the 5 * review it got last year. Its not perfrect the viewing angle given it being a VA panel is poor if you are not sat head on and some people have reported banding but I am really happy with mine. I prefer Panasonic just through experience of having them in the past and being pleased with it.

I was looking at the Panasonic myself, but have read it's an older panel tech, bested by the likes of the Samsung KU6400 (also VA). I don't know how they compare side by side though. It certainly seems to get good reviews. There are lots of IPS panels at this size I'm finding, not so many VA to choose from.

You won't get proper HDR10 at this price point. The Sony panels are 10-bit apparently, but they are not great. 8-bit plus dithering (as the better 8 bit ones are) get you pretty damn close apparently. Unless you spend twice as much, you won't get better anyway.
