I want to set my 360 up on the aforementioned TV, but I'm worried about screen burn from static features such as maps etc. I seldom play for more than a couple of hours at a time, but occasionally more than this if I'm really into a game.

Has anyone had bad experience with using plasmas for gaming, especially interested in the same model TV as mine?

Cheers!

Plasmas implode after more than 2.35 hours of gaming.......... BEWARE !!!!!!!!!

Hi there mate, I play a lot of games on mine (an older 42PZ80), including a few 10 hour ones :o

This tends to leave some image retention which can't be noticed except on a black screen, in a pitch black room at night, when looking from less than 1 ft.
I find if I then run a DVD movie on repeat, TV zoomed to fit every part of the screen, overnight, its usually completely gone in the morning.

Im very paranoid about damaging my screen in the long run [on the other hand I have 5year JL warranty, so I think there might be a fault with it in about 4 years time ;)], but if you're that worried, leave it playing a moving video fullscreen overnight and you'll be fine!

What I'm trying to say is if you play the game with the same UI on the screen for several days at once, with NOTHING else inbetween, then it could remain there permanaently, but if you vary what's on the screen, and make sure it's not just playing stuff with fixed UIs all the time, you'll be fine :)

There's really no need to worry, plasma's (especially Panasonic) have advanced a lot in recent years. I have left games running for 2 or 3 hours on my PZ80 and the most you get is a bit of retention. However just putting freeview back on for 15 minutes gets rid of it completely. I think the only real danger is leaving a high contrast static image on screen for a long long time (say 12 hours). Even then there are reports that it isn't permanent. Just enjoy your gaming in all it's glory and don't worry about it :)
