I started buying BDs and now 4k videos about a year ago.
The core reason being the fragmentation of the streaming market.
A few years ago, it was Netflix. Now we have lots of competition, and if you're looking to watch something specific, you have to google it to find out where to stream it from. That's not only a pain, but also means extra subscription costs.
For me, I'd rather spend the cash on physical media, that I can happily watch when I fancy, and doesn't suffer from network streaming restrictions to it's audio quality.
That's helped by being able to buy used disks, often at serious discount.
