Panel Uniformity

I've taken delivery of a new AOC 27" IPS Gsync monitor. With all the issues regarding IPS panels, I'm confused as to whether I've got a good/bad or indifferent model. I've taken a photo which shows glow or bleed in the bottom-right. It's sometimes visible and I don't know if I want to live with it or begin the returns process.

Any observations/opinions appreciated.

If you move your head so that your eyes are directly looking at the bottom right, does it lessen?
If it does, then it's likely glow, if it doesn't, it's bleed.
If it's the latter, and you have to look at a black image in a dark room to be able to see it, it's probably a non issue.

It goes when i look straight at it. There are a few studs of definite bleed at the top and bottom which don't bother me too much, but the glow isn't ideal. The thing is, I've got the brightness right down to 24 our of 100, so it's not like I've got everything turned up to maximum glare.

If it goes when you look straight at it then it is IPS glow. Generally happens at the bottom corners, at least it's most noticeable there because you generally set up your monitor so that your eyes are level with the top third of the panel.

Brightness at 24 is fine, I imagine it'd be around 120 nits.

Maybe consider some bias lighting?

Sadly as you're probably aware it really is a lottery when it comes to IPS panels nowadays, however from personal experience and in my own opinion - if the glow / bleed is not noticeable when not on totally black or dark backgrounds then it's something I can easily live with. Also you could RMA / swap the panel and receive a replacement that could be worse, this is the case for a lot of Asus ROG owners who had issues and some of which went through five panels before either giving up or just making do with what they've got.

I've got an Acer 27" gaming IPS panel that also displays glow / bleed similar to what you have when in the pitch black but in no way does not bother me when viewing normally and especially when gaming.

I've been using the monitor for a week or so now and I've grown quite fond of it.

In the interests of comparison, I ordered a 32" curved VA, thinking I'd end up returning the IPS. In the end, the VA blacks weren't that black (appearing far lighter than on my 40" philips monitor), panel uniformity wasn't amazing, the text was blurry and too low-res and the curve seemed to give me motion sickness. That monitor is on its way back to OCUK. It looks like a bit of glow (which I don't really notice now that I've stopped searching for it) is the compromise I'll have to make.
