Hi guys,

I've been offered a Panerai Luminor Regatta 2001 and was hoping some of the 'experts' on here could give me an indication of what to look for to ensure it is genuine also an indication of the approximate value of one of these.

particularly looking at the resident Panerai owners.

Cheers

Matt

Why does the serial number on the box/watch not match the one on the certificate ?

oh hang on I suppose that could be a "1" on the papers, looks like a "4" though

other than that it looks ok, the boxes on the Ltd editions that I have seen come with a lock but not sure if that was the case then

Value £3000-£3500 depending on condition, though dealers can ask up to £4000

head over to tz-uk.com and ask on their watch forums. They have plenty of Panerai fans and owners on their. Also check out www.paneristi.com as well.
I really fancy a Panerai but my skinny wrists rule out any of the 44mm and 47mm models, only the 40mm Marina automatics would fit me.

If that's the watch, I would imagine its in Panerai's museum, I'm fairly sure they keep the first of production for themselves or for VIP

Be very cautious.

this is my concern, also that coupled with the price (its low but not ridiculously so) make me especially wary, will see what TZ have to say as well as if I go the purchase route, meet in person and get verified at a dealer.

I have seen many no 1 of xxx in circulation

Suppose its possible then Rotty, am I right in thinking a first serial number would command a premium?

If I'm right, the one for sale I see has the same pics, the price is way lower than you would expect. I would be hugely suspicious Cookie-Monster.

Yes the No. 1 would command a premium as would anything with 8 in it

How much are they asking

Also I think the watch looks real go and have a look at paneristi there is a 107 in the ref section (Vendome)

Email is in my trust if dont dont want to say openly

sorry just in case any one is still vaguely interested, the vendor offered a '7 day refund guarantee' then asked for payment by moneygram.

needless to say I ran a mile.

thanks for everyone that gave me some input,

bought an Omega Speedmaster from a more reputable source instead, may have missed out on the deal of the century but more likely just missed out on being scammed.
