Panning Time-Lapse devices for DSLR's? Are there any DSLR versions of Egg-Cup timer style devices?

Hi all, I've got a £5 Ikea egg-timer with which I did some panning time-lapse test shots of a rally service stage being setup using with one of my in-car Drift HD cameras and while the idea worked brilliantly I couldn't use the shots in the video as the still images provided by the DriftHD were pretty poor quality as the Drift isn't really designed for photography.

Is there anything reasonably cheap out there that is a "bulked up" version of the ikea egg timer that would take the weight of DSLR's?

I've seen this kickstarter project and it looks like exactly what I'm after only it's $150 and it's full of over the top tech that I really don't need like iphone/android control & the device controls the shooting through the cameras PC port etc etc. If they did a cheaper version which just did the spinning bit and nothing else it'd be ideal!

Cheers for the replies so far! I haven't been able to find anything on POTN either which really surprised me, although there's some great Heath-Robinson engineering going on to make home built versions :D

the timed shot bit is easy, 10quid remote from egay will get u that bit

Cheers, I've already got a wireless timed shutter release (£20 from the Bay) so it's just some kind of rotating platform I'm interested in.

Thats virtually what I've got now although mines very "hobo made" after I've glued a nut to bottom and bolt to the top of my egg-timer to get the same effect.
