I heard about this game while listening to the giantbomb podcast, it's an indie title still in Beta.

A Dystopian Document Thriller.

The communist state of Arstotzka has just ended a 6-year war with neighbouring Kolechia and reclaimed its rightful half of the border town, Grestin.

Your job as an immigration inspector is to control the flow of people entering the Arstotzkan side of Grestin from Kolechia. Among the throngs of immigrants and visitors looking for work are hidden smugglers, spies, and terrorists. Using only the documents provided by travellers and MoA's primitive computer dispatch system you must decide who can enter Arstotzka and who will be turned away or arrested.

Each day adds some new elements or rules you have to follow while doing your job. You get paid for each successful immigrant you process correctly. It gets quite difficult when those at the top keep adding more requirements for immigrants to enter, work passes and documentation with the correct stamps etc. Towards the end of the demo you can body scan potential threats, to see if they are carrying weapons.

The people trying to enter have little back stories and you might allow entry to someone without the full documentation, only to find out in the news the next day that they were in fact a terrorist.

Anyway check it out here: Download Papers, Please

If you get stuck on Day 3, read the spoiler:

(If you get stuck on day 3, open the rule book, highlight the rule of needing a passport and click on the empty desk to interrogate the old man who just won't leave.)

I played this a while ago after a YouTuber I watched did a Let's Play on it. Great game, hopefully it keeps improving.

Just bought this last night after watching the VideogamerUK lets play (its a proper release now for those unaware), highly frustrating yet addictive game. Well worth the £6.99, spent a good few hours on it so far, though decided to restart as i may have let my son and wife starve/freeze to death...

Played the demo a couple months back. It's crazy how addictive it is! And I love how your actions affect the newspapers at times :)
