I've seen both of these say they can import an existing Win install, and in particular the bootcamp one. However does it actually run the bootcamp install from the app within OS X so I only need 1 windows license and everything I install in one environment is available in the other or is the copy exactly that and once split the 2 are independent entities?

Both pieces of software will just run your bootcamp partition inside the app, so licensing isn't an issue. However some people report problems with having to re-activate their software after installing parallels. Not sure about VMware though.

And yes, whatever you install through boot camp will be available in parallels / VMware and vice versa.

Hope that helps :)

Excellent, thanks for that. Was thinking of running FSX which will require all the resources it can get. The other Windows apps I miss I could run in the VM session. Ztree mainly. Showing my age, the original (Xtree) pre-dates Windows 3.1!
