Parallels is Amazing.

Just wanted to single out some praise for Parallels and OSx.
I have to run a number of large excel macros for my work and before owning a Mac I couldn't actually use my Windows laptop whilst running them. But with the Mac and Parallels they just run perfectly fine inside the Virtual Shell, bloody brilliant.

I personally find vwmare fusion better, I need to run windows on my machine to admin AD, GP, and remote tools via SCCM; boring stuff that I can't do on a mac without forking out for third party add-ons/tools.

And the Unity basically allows me to forget that I have a windows VM running all together as all the boxes blend in, there's no need for the windows taskbar as the program appear on the dock (you can even pin them there, but all the programs I use are just add-ons for mmc), A windows update icon even appears on the apple tool bar, when windows whats to update itself.

Not sure if you're singling out Unity as the reason VM Fusion is better, but parallels can do the same thing with Coherence mode.

I use parallels too and its excellent for running Windows without any fuss.

I chose parallels based on a few reviews saying it was quicker than VMWare (and got it really cheap from MacUpdate), but they both do the same thing really.

Been good for me though, happily runs a couple of vms at a time on my base model 2011 13inch MBP.

Prefer VMWare Fusion but both do an excellent job of virtualisation.

Using VMWare fusion here so I can sync my Zune. Totally unapple but it works beautifully, and even wireless sync functions perfectly! Very, very impressed.

I have used coherence mode in a very early version of parallels, and I wasn't as impressed as I am with unity mode, I can't remember why thou... tbh I would prefer not having to run either of them but I have to for work and went with VM as we use there virtual server software too.

But I can't really disagree that parallels is worst, as I've not used it for such a long time.
