Which one, please? Ease of installation and use are the main factors in that order for me.
I only need to run two programs really. They don't have them in Mac.
Either to be honest. I use VMWare but I think the newest versions of Parallels are maybe slightly better. Both are easy to install and set up. I'm sure you will be happy with either choice if those are the only factors to consider.
I used to use VMWare but when the new versions were released I trialled both and preferred Parallels. Hence I only bought the upgrade to Parallels and it's working well for me.
At the moment the MacUpdate Spring bundle has just a day or so left and it includes Parallels. You get the whole lot for $49.99 whereas Parallels itself normally costs $79.99
If you're after virtualising desktop type stuff - XP/Win7 - and for single instance (I.e. a single copy of Win7) then Parallels would get my vote. It's a bit faster and the integration is better.
If you're planning on running multiple instances/guests and maybe want to run server OS' too then I'd go VMWare. It scales better and the performance is more consistent as the guest count rises.
I tend to run my desktop Win7 in Parallels but all my server stuff in VMWare.
Well, I was in the Apple Store at the weekend and they (4 of them) are saying that I can only install the software to one machine which is no good to me because I got a iMac and a MBP. No way I'm going to pay for the 5 users version!
Anyone here with Parallels or VMware installed to at least two Macs with the same disk?
Yes, I've got Parallels installed and registered on two different Macs. I emailed them and was told that as long as they are my computers logging on as me then I am covered by my single user licence.
