I have a 1.83ghz MacBook coreduo with 1gb RAM. I'd like to run Parallels for ASP.NET development with Visual Studio in Windows. I'm currently trying this out, but it's VERY slow :( Is this a case of my machine simply not being fast enough, or would going to 2gb of RAM make a big difference?

Thanks

I ran Parallels on my MacBook for that very reason and it was perfectly fast with 2 gig (758meg assigned to the guest), so I guess that's your answer :)

One thing that helps with performance of the machine in general is to change the 'caching mode' in the virtual machine properties from 'guest os' to 'host os'. It slows the virtual machine down slightly but makes a big difference to the usability of OSX. Basically in it's default mode OS X will try and cache as much of the virtual machine harddisk file in RAM.. great if you have 60gig of RAM, but for those of us on 1 or 2 gig it's not so hot :)
