I ordered some clothes from ASOS yesterday using their 24 next working day delivery using Parcelforce. The items were dispatched from ASOS yesterday at 3pm and I was emailed a tracking number. Parcelforce's tracking system reads thus:

10-12-2010 07:51 Aldershot Depot Received at delivery depot
10-12-2010 07:43 Aldershot Depot Loaded to vehicle for delivery
10-12-2010 00:58 National Hub Received and processed

Aldershot is about 5 miles from me. It's been there since 8am. It's now nearly 5pm and it's yet to be loaded onto a van for delivery. I can't seem to find their latest delivery time, is it up to 6pm?

Also, if this item isn't dispatched to me today, will it sit in the depot until Monday?

If there were backlogs I'd imagine the parcel would sit at the national hub and not be delivered to my local depot.

If they can move it from Coventry to Aldershot, they can move it the 5 miles to my house. The roads around here have been fine for a week.

I just phoned their customer services, they say deliveries can arrive as late as 6pm.

I am thinking they tried to delivery to the wrong region, realised their mistake and left the parcel sitting in west midlands for a week, before return to the rainforest.
I find it difficult to believe they got it from west midlands to the house in 5 hours, even by air freight thats damn damn difficult.

It says mine was loaded to vehicle for delivery at 07:43 and then arrived back at the depot at 07:51. There is no way the van got to my house, rang the bell, left and got back to the depot in 8 minutes. Also there's no chance mine was the only parcel on the van and he would have just carried on with his route.

I don't understand why it's just been sat there all day. It's now 18:38 and it's not come.

Will it arrive tomorrow now? I had a lot I could have done today and after realising it was processed at 8am I didn't think it would take too long to arrive and I'd still have the afternoon to run errands.

I wouldn't be surprised if all the morons at Aldershot depot are stood around my parcel, poking it with sticks wondering what the hell it's doing there...

Spoke to someone tonight at Parcelforce. He says the strange timings could be down to a faulty tracker gun tagging the wrong information. But as far as he could tell there's no reason it shouldn't have been delivered and asked me to check with my neighbours, and in failing that gave me the number for the Aldershot depot to call tomorrow.

Luckily ASOS for some reason didn't charge me for the next working day delivery, so I'm not too annoyed.

This isn't what we're finding. Most delays are occuring after the parcels have arrived at the local depot due to backlogs.
The backlogs consist of freight already at the depots, not the hubs.

Someone please attempt to explain this delivery lies from Citilink to me.
I know they didn't call at the house at any stage.

Well that's citylink for you as they did that to me once which then lead me to stop shopping at one site (I can't name it since it is a competitor).

I'd suggest not shopping at any site that only offers citylink as a delivery option.

Well it was baby gear, the rainforest site contatced me very swiftly by email and have dispatched a second batch of goods this time by royal mail for no charge.
So their customer service has been good, even if citlink are incapable of responding to emails.
It is amusing to think the guy left Birmingham area made it to the house in Northern Ireland in 5 hours and wa back in Birmingham area that night with delivery having failed.

Stuff will come eventually, but I'd have rather had it in time for the baby's delivery, which is imminent.

If it came via HDNL, some depots are doing Saturday and Sunday deliveries at no extra cost to the end user up until Christmas.

My Citylink parcel is sat at the local hub and didn't go out for delivery yesterday (when expected) or today :(
