im looking at going to Paris by train (from either Waterloo or Ashford) leaving either friday 15th December in the evening or Saturday 16th in the morning and returning Sunday evening. This is for 2 adults sharing, reason for going is shopping, site seeing etc.

anyone recommend any good web sites to book from along with any recommended hotels and places to visit. budget for transport and accomodation to be around £120 per person.

Pretty much anywhere in the central city is ok for hotels. The Metro system is easy to use and you can get around quite easily. I'm off there on the 18th Oct for 3 nights in the "Best Western Jardin De Cluny" in the Latin Quarter (quite near Notre Dame) which including flights from Leeds came to about £400. Will let you know what the hotel was like when i get back.

As for sight seeing, you're spoilt for choice, and will have nowhere near enough time on 2 days to see it all. Would suggest the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Arc De Triomphe, Notre Dame etc.

Shopping, you can find loads of nice little shops off the Champs Elyisse (hope i spelt it right!) and loads of shops on that road too. Didn't really have time to let the g/f go shopping last time i was there so will have to see if she can be let off the leash this time!

This website is quite good for thinking about what to see:

I did almost identically the same thing about 3 years ago. Was an Xmas surprise for the missus. Think I paid £99 each from a travel agent.

Found the most awsome Chinese restaurant there called the **** Ming. Would definately recomment trying to find it! Best chinese I've ever had. Oh and we went to see the sex museum too. Was pretty funny. :p

you could have a look on tripadvisor.com for hotel recommendations, it's always good to find out what people think of places they have stayed in
