Parkers: Accurate Valuations?

Hi,

Does Parkers (www.parkers.co.uk) actually give realistic valuations, and should I be expecting/looking to pay/negotiate the prices it quotes? I've noticed that on autotrader that most (if not all) of the cars are priced well above their parker quoted value (more than an amount added to allow room for negotiation back down to that price), and similarly on ebay most cars are selling above their respective values according to Parkers.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers

John

I think parkers has a reputation for not being too hot on prices. Glasses Guide is much better, but you need to pay (a small amount) for a valuation, unless you're a trader, and already signed up.

Or ask me ;)

Parker's valuations are completely off the wall and in most cases have nothing to do with real life prices. Some circles even reckon they get paid to create higher seasonal second hand prices for certain makers...

So, if the Parkers prices are off, do they tend to follow a pattern, e.g. are they too high, too low, etc, or is it completely random? Looking around, everyone seems to be selling at higher prices.

Well parkers think that 50k for my six year old car is high mileage??? I thought the average was 10-12k a year. I put in the year and model and it comes back saying the car should have travelled 36k so they adjust over a grand off it.

Parkers mileage ideas is ridiculous. Whats your car make/model/spec/mileage?

£19750 retail

Thats assuming it has leather. Also my guide is for last month, but it says prices have only really moved by a hundred quid or so since the month before.
