Hi there,

Can one of the parking ticket gurus confirm this is one I can ignore? The car is not owned by me but is still registered in my name as the V5 hasn't found its way to swansea I'd guess. Worth the effort of telling them the car wasn't mine at the time or can I just ignore it?

Kind Regards

Alec

This is a matter between the driver and the parking company. There is currnetly no legal obligation for you to assist them.

Many thanks for the swift reply, sir.

Do you know if they could say/do/ask anything of me where I am legally obliged to help them Mr Fox?

Kind Regards

Alec

If you already sold it i would be inclined to ring and give them the new owners details.

I wouldn't, I'd just bin the letter. Getting in contact with them could just fuel more letters if the details you give them don't pan out (new owner ignores letters).

You've no reason to really do anything as you don't own the car anymore and they can't force you into telling them anything. Contact could just end up costing you more time in phone calls and letters to explain this over and over.

So, should one consider car parks where the terms state that you will be liable to receive a Parking Charge Notice as fair game for free parking? I mean, there are probably more people that idiotically pay the fines than not, so they're effectively subsidising my parking fee anyway.

Often at hotels I have meetings at I will park in a place that is convenient and not have to worry about charges but this all changes 1st October 2012.
