I'm heading to manchester tonight and need somewhere to park. I need to be near the Academy probably parked from 5pm - 11pm Any ideas? I know Manchester a little but not too well by roads so any help appreciated. :)

The academy is between A and H on the picture with Academy 2 and 3 being in the Students Union which is building A and Academy 1 being under the U and M of the University of Manchester.

It's free parking all down Denmark Road which is opposite the Oxford Pub and the MRI.

Get there early, it fills up very quickly if its a popular artist.
Personally, I'd park somewhere else and get the bus/train/tram in.

the aquatic centre?? get a tram/train?? (the closest tram/train station is 10 minutes away on the bus), there is no reason to do this at all for the academy, there is plenty of parking nearby both car parks and on the street.
I park on Ackers St (opposite the gap between the union and Academy) there is usually plenty down there/portsmouth st, if not denmark road is a decent call and the acomb st/cecil st. if you're coming at 5 denmark road is probably your best bet as there are some unmarked bits and the bits which are marked you can park 2 hours (finishes at 6pm i think). Anything after half 5 and you'll be fine on Ackers St even though the signs say 6:30 (I park there every time I work at the academy and have never had an issue)

Just as a quick FYI, the aquatics centre car park shuts at 11pm every night, so it won't be any good for you. I would recommend parking along Denmark Rd. as has been previousely suggested.

Gotta remember though, you are essentially trying to park just outside of a city centre, it's never easy :) Sometimes far easier to look on the NCP website, find a suitable car park and then bus/walk to wherever you want to be.

In an area where the majority of parked traffic is made up of students and staff at the university and schools, I have never struggled to park near the academy from when I lived next door 6 years ago to now when I work there.

Fair enough, I'm wrong on that account then.

Personally I have always struggled and so have stopped using my car to drive to the uni, as other than paying loads for parking its a PITA, I would certainly never drive to see a show at the Academy, I either walk the 2 miles in or get a bus. I rarely park that far down though so I shall bow to your greater knowledge on that account :)

it can be a bugger during the day, if you want more than the 2/3 hour spots anyway, but there is always a way. Unless I'm working I never drive either though, but I'm guessing the OP can't just walk there
