Hi,

Just wondering if someone knew somewhere good to park near Anfield. Doesn't have to be right next to it but somewhere within 15 minute walk would be good (or if there is a bus / etc. thats fine).

Cheers,

M.

Wouldn't advise parking near the ground tbh. Can be a nightmare trying to get out at the end of a game. Parking in the centre and getting a bus or walking to the ground would be the best bet imo.

Thanks mate. Is there anywhere you know of that's half decent in the town centre? (i.e. won't cost the Earth and will be open at 10PM to get the car back)?

I think I will - the only minor problem is that I won't be in Liverpool until 7.05PM on Monday - kick offs at 8:00PM - if you have specific car parks that would be great!

There are plenty of 'car parks' within a 10 minute walk of the ground but like Pigeon says, it can take you forever to get out after the game.

I think so - I read somewhere that it was - by specific car parks I mean in the town centre - not near the ground - just so I can have them on the sat nav ready to go!

I've never parked in the City centre so can't help there but I would suggest that you'll be better off parking in the School car park (or 1 of the others around the ground). It may take you a while to get out after the game but it'll still be far quicker than getting a bus/cab into town to pick your car up.

I'm sure Rotty or YSMN will be able to help more if and when they're around.

As if by magic, the shopkeeper appeared :D

If you want to park in town there are a few NCP's but they are quite expensive. Cheapest at that time of night is probably the one at Liverpool One, Mount Pleasant (grim car park though!) or the Echo Arena but am unsure at what time they close. Liverpool One should be open late due to cinema/restaurants. However, you then have the hassle of getting back into town after the match with all the match traffic and other people going into town. You could walk down to Stanley Park and flag down a black cab though....along with the hundreds of others with the same idea :)

Other option is to park near the ground in one of the unofficial car parks like the school that has been suggested or there is a pub called The Elm Tree (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&s...R2pnqU-6w&cd=1&usq=pub&geocode=FctmLwMdI5jS_w) that always has a car park open for about £5. It's pretty small so you have to get there early-ish but that means you don't take ages getting out.

My suggestion would possibly be to park in city centre and get the train to Sandhills, making sure you ask for a 'Soccerbus' ticket. There are shuttle buses that take you from Sandhills station to the corner of Stanley Park and back after the game. Whole process takes approx 25 mins (ish!)

Thanks YSMN!

The only worry is that I know (even if I go up the Motorway as fast as possible) I won't be there before 7.05!

So I have to find somewhere to park then get some means of transport to the ground! Last time I went there was on the train but it's all a last minute thing!

Thanks for the help though I'll try and sort it out with my trusty sat nav now!

P.S. Does Bank Hall Rail/Sandhills Rail have any parking? That looks kinda local!

There's a good parking spot under the flyover by Byrom Street (as you come out of the tunnels), think it's free that time of night as well. It's right next to St.Georges hall and there's usually loads of taxis about there as well so easy to get a ride in.

I would park in one of the NCPs in town, will probably cost you around a fiver for a few hours at Liverpool One, its open late and then just get a taxi in. I go every week to watch Everton play (just got back tonight in fact) and it only costs me about £7-8 which is a similar distance from town. As YSMN said, they do the soccer bus too which is pretty cheap that runs from Sandhills to the grounds. Getting back isn't usually much of a problem, there are loads of taxis about, just walk a bit further away from the ground to avoid the crowds! :)

Maybe try one of the council car parks in the city centre, theres a one on dale street I think, near the birkenhead tunnel, they're free after 7pm as far as I'm aware...

Oops forgot to mention, you could either get a cab afterwards or take the merseyrail to sandhills and jump on the soccer bus, which takes around 20 minutes in total.

I always park on Castor St just off Belmont road, there's 4-5 different car parks off Whitefield road though.

It's normally pretty quick to get out for me, apart from if there's roadworks.

I park on Pinehurst Ave, if you park at the Utting Ave end but then head out the other end of Pinehurst then it usually isnt too bad

mind yer car fer yer mate :p

oh and if you are heading out on M62 we find it better to use M57 and join M62 further down

I've been told a story by my Dad's friend, not sure how true it is but funny never the less.

As he parked up, a couple of lads no more than 5 or 6 run across the street with the usual line, "mind yer car", he tells them it's ok he's got his Rotweiller laying on the back seat (which he says he did have) and one of the lads answer straight back with, '"he can't put fires out though can he"? :D

Thanks for the help guys! I don't suppose you have a postcode / address of this car park. The rest I've added to the GPS! Going to be a mad rush but ultimately worth it!
